The internationally important species (Oystercatcher, Knot and Pintail) have been summarised in Table 11:2. The national significance of the Burry Inlet is presented in Table 11:5. Additionally, Shelduck (560 in winter) almost reach the national level, and of regional significance are the flock of 40–50 Eider and small numbers of grebes and divers which are found off Whitford Point. At times the outfall of the Burry Port power station attracts many migrant gulls and terns.
